The Top 3 Ways to Use Fully Activated CBD for Your Body: Topicals, Tinctures, Isolate & More!

The Top 3 Ways to Use Fully Activated CBD for Your Body: Topicals, Tinctures, Isolate & More!

Cannabidiol, otherwise known as CBD, is one of the most potent chemical components of cannabis. Although being one among many, chances are higher than average that friends or family have heard those three letters at some point. As a result of its widening prevalence, you may find yourself asked some questions by those same people, “What is this stuff? Do I smoke it or what?” When the laughter subsides and the genuine curiously remains, there are some things to consider when approaching consuming CBD.

One of the very reasons why CBD shows so much promise is that it is inherently non-psychoactive, meaning it won’t get you high. So despite showing efficacy in helping to alleviate things like inflammation, neurodegenerative diseases and chronic pain, you won’t end up with those pesky “debilitating side effects” such as absent mindedness. Please keep in mind while you read this that everyone’s endocannabinoid system in their bodies is different, so efficacy varies person to person. A mitigating factor of the non-psychoactivity of CBD is the placebo effect. Such as someone not experiencing a distinct difference in sensation after taking CBD and their mind cancelling out the beneficial capabilities.

    Topical Use
One of the inroads for CBD towards alleviating pain is via a topical such as a cream or a salve. Frequently coupled with coconut oil, CBD can be great for the skin and has local pain alleviating abilities.  Particularly for pain dealing with inflammation, such as arthritis, CBD can be quite ameliorating. Typically, without the addition of a specific delivery method past the epidermis, CBD usually does not find its way into the bloodstream of the user.  We have several products you can use topically, like our Full Spectrum Salve, CBD Burn Care SalveTattoo After Care, and more!

    Oral ingestion
Medicinally, oral ingestion of CBD, usually in the form of capsules or as a syringe is one of most viable and common methods of CBD delivery.  Due to the large network of CB2 receptors in your digestive tract, CBD can be quite efficient for overall distribution of the effects. While oral ingestion is a very comfortable way to consume CBD for most people, it should also be known that it usually can take up to 2 hours to kick in when swallowed. Alternatively, sublingual application, which means it is meant to be absorbed under the tongue, typically occurs in as little as 20 minutes with activated CBD oil.  In a small portion of the population, CB2 receptors are flawed, resulting in a measured increase in dosage being necessary for oral ingestion, meaning some may need more than others.  Our CBD tinctures, CBD capsules, and CBD Isolate can be used orally!

    Dabbing Isolate
If you have access to CBD Isolate, like Fully Activated's Pure Isolate, which is typically 97% or higher in concentration, there are few ways that are more immediate than vaporizing the isolate via an adjustable vape pen or a dab rig. Isolate unfortunately cannot be used like much other hash as a bowl-topper due to the higher temperature needed to be activated. Dabbing CBD involves the CB1 receptors present in your lungs. CBD isolate is commonly said to have a taste similar to cherries when vaporized.

    APPETIZER

Roasted Broccoli and Cheddar Cheese Dip

Makes 10 servings ~ approx 10mg CBD per serving

    Ingredients
    • 12 ounces broccoli florets (about 6 cups)
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
    • 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
    • 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    • 100mg of Pure CBD Isolate
    • 2 1/2 cups half-and-half
    • 8 ounces mild Cheddar, shredded (about 2 1/2 cups)
    • 4 ounces Monterey Jack, shredded (about 1 1/2 cups)
    • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
    Instructions
    1. Preheat oven to 450*F.
    2. Toss broccoli in olive oil with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and pepper.  Spread on baking sheet and roast for 15-20minutes.  It will begin to brown, but will not be mushy.  Place on cutting board and chop coarsely.
    3. Melt butter in saucepan over medium & add onions, cook for 6minutes until soft, then add garlic and cook until soft.
    4. Slowly begin to stair in flour and cook around 4 minutes, until flower has lightly browned.
    5. Stir in half & half and allow to simmer for 10-15 minutes until heavy cream consistency is reached.  Stir occasionally.
    6. Once desired consistency, turn off heat & cheeses and stir until melted.
    7. Add CBD Isolate, broccoli, and mustard and stir.
    8. Pour into serving bowl and chop veggies or add chips around bowl.
    9. Enjoy!

You can add our tasteless pure CBD isolate to just about anything, but one thing to note about cooking with CBD isolate: it’s best to not heat the CBD over 400*F, as it could lose potency and effectiveness.  So, think about foods that require low-heat or that CBD can be added to after baking.  CBD is fat-soluble, so it’s best to add it in to fats, butters, and oils instead of water.  You can add it into a balsamic vinaigrette, or in your Christmas stuffing or dressing.  Dissolve CBD (cannabidiol) isolate in to your olive oil or similar oils and add to whatever main dishes you like!  While there have been no known overdoses from CBD, many would recommend keeping the ratio to between 5mg-10mg per food serving.

Don't forget about your beverages!  You can add a little CBD isolate powder right into whatever drink you choose.  While it will dissolve best in things like eggnog and coffee with creamer, the sky is the limit with CBD!
