We are Fully Activating the Paintball World with CBD!

As the head product ambassador for Fully Activated, I am always looking at ways to reach out to new demographics that can benefit from our products. Every living being with an endocannabinoid system stands to benefit from CBD. As a semi-professional paintball player, I knew my paintball community needed to experience the wonders of Fully Activated. Week in and week out, all year around, we are beating up our bodies; running, diving, sliding, and getting hit with paintballs flying 300 feet per second (over 200mph!) which forms welts and leaves bruises in their wake.

Fully Activated is proud to be a “Platinum Sponsor” (the highest level of support) for the National Xball League, which is the largest and most professional platform for tournament paintball. The NXL features multiple divisions of competition, and hosts 5 tournaments in the United States and 5 in Europe over the course of the year. Teams fly in from around the world to prove themselves and showcase their skills.

Tournament paintball, often referred to as “speedball”, “airball”, and “Xball” is played on a rectangular 120ft x 150ft level surface, with 48 inflatable bunkers arranged symmetrically so that each side has the same positions. Five players start on either side of the field at a central spot, and as soon as the horn sounds, it is a fast and furious battle to shoot the other five players and tag the buzzer located where the opposing team started. When you tag the buzzer, your team is awarded one point. There is a 15-minute timer, whichever team gets a spread of five points or has the most points after time expires wins the match! Teams play four preliminary matches to start, and whichever teams have the best records move forward into a single elimination bracket. Teams shoot tens of thousands of paintballs as they compete to win thousands of dollars and the pride of being the best in their division!

Fully Activated is a proud sponsor of San Diego Dynasty, the best professional team in tournament paintball history. Formerly sponsored by the likes of Dell Computer, Intel, and having won five Ford Mustangs in the 2000 Spider Cup tournament, they have been the fiercest competition at this level in the history of the sport. With dozens and dozens of 1st place finishes, their dedication to excellence, consistency, incredible track record, and positive energy and attitudes reflect our company values. Our products help keep them healthy and recovering quickly so they can maintain peak performance.

We are also sponsoring divisional teams from around the country, including Colorado based teams Mile High Saints, Denver Kaos, and a factory team out of Pittsburgh Paintball Park named “Pittsburgh Fully Activated”. We are excited to expose new teams from all over to the Fully Activated lifestyle by sharing free samples, CBD massage, and more at our booth at the NXL events.

The sports recovery market has been sorely missing out; the anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, and pain-management properties of CBD are going to change the way we train and recover and level up our performance. We are honored by the positive response from the players and industry leaders of the NXL, and are looking forward to helping paintball players stay injury free and achieve maximum wellness!

Research on CBD Progresses in Finding Relief from Inflammation

As research progresses, studies around the potential anti-inflammatory properties of cannabidiol (CBD) are looking promising.  Many different types of people are trying to find relief in utilizing CBD to help manage pain, recover quickly from injury, and stay on top of their symptoms for various diseases or even just the aging process in general.
CBD works within the endocannabinoid system of the body.  Studies have shown that, when used long-term, CBD could help keep inflammation levels low. Inflammation can be caused by a myriad of catalysts, and is a necessary process of the body to protect us from infection and other threats. However, when these responses become out of balance, pain ensues.  Untreated, long-term inflammation can causes diseases ranging from asthma to cancer.
The more research done on this cannabinoid shows that people across the board might benefit from the use of CBD.  It has been found that athletes are implementing CBD into their regimens in hopes of faster recovery time after injury and a better, easier integration of muscle building post-workout.  People looking to manage effects of the aging process are finding that CBD might help to soothe old injuries, reduce swelling in joints, and keep the body functioning smoothly.  Those in chronic pain are turning to CBD to potentially manage their pain and offer a better quality of life.  In particular, autoimmune diseases such as arthritis, lupus, and fibromyalgia, which are mainly attributed to inflammation, have been under immense research of the effects of CBD.
Many people that struggle with arthritis and other muscular and joint inflammation find relief using topical treatments. Topicals are products like salves & balms (think Tiger Balm or Icy Hot) that are applied directly to the skin, typically at the area of inflammation. This might be a great way to manage pain as needed. Others may find that managing their inflammation is better done by ingesting edibles or tinctures for extended relief. Edibles can last up to eight hours but take about an hour to kick-in, and tinctures about four hours (but with a much faster onset).
The best way to choose which products are right for your own pain management is simply through trial-and-error. Be open to utilizing one or many different products determined by your body composition and pain levels. Always be sure to ask your budtender, sales representative, or primary physician for their educated opinion before starting any regimen.  Reach out to Fully Activated CBD to learn more about our full spectrum CBD products and pure CBD isolate!

CBD Products and Applications for Post-Workout Muscle Recovery

As cannabis becomes more widely accepted and utilized for many things, it is inevitable that there will be many new applications in the future. One of these is the growing use of CBD in the regimens of athletes and exercise enthusiasts. While much of the evidence around CBD to help  ease recovery is anecdotal, there is an overwhelming amount of support for the cannabinoid’s efficacy in pain relief. If widespread anecdotal evidence is to be dismissed, one needs only look at the fact that in late September of 2017, the World Anti-Doping Agency removed CBD from it’s banned substances list.

Muscle Soreness and CBD
One of the ways in which CBD is blazing a path in healthy-minded lives is by offsetting Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness or DOMS. DOMS is notable in that it causes muscle soreness for days after the initial workout, which serves to prevent further activity and dampen expected results.  Potentially, CBD could help reduce the amount of time between workouts by shortening recovery time.

Recovery Time
Frequently, people looking to cut down on their recovery time will use Non-steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) like Ibuprofen to combat the pain from inflammation.  While this is a stigma-less short term solution for workout recovery, in the long term, this can be toxic to the body, particularly affecting the kidneys.  Additionally, extended use of such drugs could mean trading in the shortened recovery for more visits with your general care practitioner for other issues.  Considering that the body has a widespread system for taking in cannabinoids, the endocannabinoid system, CBD is becoming a clearer choice for combating the stiff muscles for the day after you train.

Topical Pain Relievers
The soreness after a workout is a side effect from tearing the muscle fibers. This tearing is necessary for the sought-after “gains” but CBD has been shown in some studies as a potent analgesic, as well as, an anti-inflammatory agent. This is where topical CBD applications come in.  As opposed to menthol and capsaicin based alternatives like BioFreeze and Tiger Balm, CBD salves penetrate the skin to work though your body’s endocannabinoid system, reducing the amount of inflammation on the site applied.  This can offer longer lasting relief rather than masking the pain of the inflammation. Some research suggests you may not need to ramp up the dosage of CBD to maintain the same relieving effects.

Internal Use
That being said, the superior method of supplementing CBD into a routine is sublingually (under the tongue) with a CBD tincture.  Although they usually don’t kick in until about 20 minutes after ingested, they give the body a well-rounded relief from soreness instead of a specific area, like full spectrum salves. While people that don’t work out as often might prefer a salve to use to address their muscle recovery, roll-on CBD products often receive praise due to the general lack of a residue that is common with creams.

There is no specified regiment for using CBD post-workout for muscle recovery, and we recommend finding a routine that works best for your needs!  From salves to tinctures, or even CBD isolate, there’s an application for everyone.  Interested in learning more about CBD?  Read through some of our blogs or reach out to Fully Activated CBD for more!

The Top 3 Ways to Use Fully Activated CBD for Your Body: Topicals, Tinctures, Isolate & More!

Cannabidiol, otherwise known as CBD, is one of the most potent chemical components of cannabis. Although being one among many, chances are higher than average that friends or family have heard those three letters at some point. As a result of its widening prevalence, you may find yourself asked some questions by those same people, “What is this stuff? Do I smoke it or what?” When the laughter subsides and the genuine curiously remains, there are some things to consider when approaching consuming CBD.
One of the very reasons why CBD shows so much promise is that it is inherently non-psychoactive, meaning it won’t get you high. So despite showing efficacy in helping to alleviate things like inflammation, neurodegenerative diseases and chronic pain, you won’t end up with those pesky “debilitating side effects” such as absent mindedness. Please keep in mind while you read this that everyone’s endocannabinoid system in their bodies is different, so efficacy varies person to person. A mitigating factor of the non-psychoactivity of CBD is the placebo effect. Such as someone not experiencing a distinct difference in sensation after taking CBD and their mind cancelling out the beneficial capabilities.

Topical UseOne of the inroads for CBD towards alleviating pain is via a topical such as a cream or a salve. Frequently coupled with coconut oil, CBD can be great for the skin and has local pain alleviating abilities.  Particularly for pain dealing with inflammation, such as arthritis, CBD can be quite ameliorating. Typically, without the addition of a specific delivery method past the epidermis, CBD usually does not find its way into the bloodstream of the user.  We have several products you can use topically, like our Full Spectrum Salve, CBD Burn Care Salve, Tattoo After Care, and more!

Oral ingestionMedicinally, oral ingestion of CBD, usually in the form of capsules or as a syringe is one of most viable and common methods of CBD delivery.  Due to the large network of CB2 receptors in your digestive tract, CBD can be quite efficient for overall distribution of the effects. While oral ingestion is a very comfortable way to consume CBD for most people, it should also be known that it usually can take up to 2 hours to kick in when swallowed. Alternatively, sublingual application, which means it is meant to be absorbed under the tongue, typically occurs in as little as 20 minutes with activated CBD oil.  In a small portion of the population, CB2 receptors are flawed, resulting in a measured increase in dosage being necessary for oral ingestion, meaning some may need more than others.  Our CBD tinctures, CBD capsules, and CBD Isolate can be used orally!
Dabbing Isolate If you have access to CBD Isolate, like Fully Activated’s Pure Isolate, which is typically 97% or higher in concentration, there are few ways that are more immediate than vaporizing the isolate via an adjustable vape pen or a dab rig. Isolate unfortunately cannot be used like much other hash as a bowl-topper due to the higher temperature needed to be activated. Dabbing CBD involves the CB1 receptors present in your lungs. CBD isolate is commonly said to have a taste similar to cherries when vaporized.

Thanks for reading up about just some of the ways in which CBD can be made available to you. Remember to do your research as to the origins of any CBD product that you find and to obey the laws of your particular area.  If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Fully Activated CBD for more information on our high quality CBD products!

Oral vs Topical Application of CBD with CBD Roller Balms, Salves, Isolate, Capsules, Tinctures, & more!

Ways to Consume CBD
There are many ways to consume CBD, or Cannabidiol, a well-known compound in cannabis that may be beneficial in healing a long list of ailments. CBD oil can be administered sublingually, eaten, drank, or applied topically to the skin. Sublingual use requires placing the CBD oil under the tongue for 30-60 seconds to allow the CBD to enter your bloodstream directly through absorption of the mucus membranes. When you swallow CBD, it passes through the digestive system and liver before it enters the bloodstream. Topical CBD typically does not  reach the bloodstream, and instead directly reacts with the cannabinoid receptors on the skin in the area where it is applied.

Orally Consumable CBD
Tinctures
There’s evidence to suggest that CBD provides relief from larger issues like cancer related symptoms, anxiety, and depression, but also smaller complications like acne, aches, and pains. Fully Activated Full Spectrum CBD Oil includes a trace amount of THC—(0.3%), which is completely legal, remains non- psychoactive, and provides a full range of cannabinoids and terpenes. The THC may deliver additional pain-relieving benefits along with the CBD. Fully Activated Pure CBD Tincture tests at 99%+ CBD, crafted without THC, and delivers a straight-forward product potentially tackling physical, mental and emotional concerns.
Tincture might be great for migraines, menstrual cramps, anxiety attacks or something else that needs fast relief and quick attention.

Capsules
CBD Oil packaged into capsules is another effective way to reap the potentially healing benefits of CBD and THC. Capsules are discreet, fast acting, non-psychoactive, and can be purchased from Fully Activated in a Full Spectrum or Pure CBD form, providing similar relief to CBD tincture. Capsules may be a better idea for ailments that require long term treatment as opposed to immediate pain relief.
For example, capsules might work well in preventing high blood pressure. A study where ten healthy men were given 600 mg of CBD oil found that it reduced their resting blood pressure, opposed to a placebo. This study also completed a stress test where blood pressure usually increases, but the CBD oil led participants to experience a smaller increase than the average response to the test.
This leads the cannabis community to believe that CBD could hypothetically prevent high blood pressure and may help diminish cell death and inflammation related to heart disease. This might be due to its potentially potent antioxidant and stress-reducing characteristics.

CBD Isolate
Fully Activated CBD produces the powder and slab form of CBD Isolate which can be eaten, put into a capsule, or mixed into food and drinks. Both forms are 99.4% pure and could be perfect for promotion of something like bone health.
Research suggests that CBD could hasten the healing of broken bones by increasing the speed of new bone-cell formation. In addition, cannabinoids might help facilitate the cycle of old bone material being replaced by new bone material.

Topical CBD:
When CBD is applied to the skin, cannabinoids are directly absorbed into the affected area. The CBD is concentrated on that part of the body, which means a faster and more focused onset of effects. Topical CBD could work fantastically for arthritis, muscle soreness, or sports-related injuries.

Salves
Fully Activated CBD topical products are handmade by using a combination of carefully selected, organic herbs and oils. The Full Spectrum CBD Salve could ease the foot or calf pain of a runner, or simply work as a calming, massage lubricant. Salves can also be used for skin issues like psoriasis, eczema, or scarring.
Due to CBD’s potentially anti-inflammatory properties, symptoms like dry, itchy, patchy, red and burning skin can diminish quickly with the use of topical CBD.

Roller Balm
CBD plus other calming ingredients like lavender, shea butter and vitamin E in the Full Spectrum CBD Roller is a perfect applicator for wrists, feet and ankles. Available in lavender, tea tree, and peppermint, this could be a great choice for a runner or yogi. Ease the strain of a long workout by easily applying this soothing balm to your tired joints.

You have a problem? CBD might have an answer!
Whether you are seeking alternative care for symptoms related to cancer, relief from clinical depression, or liberation from anxiety—migraine, menstrual cramps, or muscle pain assistance, CBD could have an answer for you. With the vast array of available options, CBD can work for the timid, first-timer, the gung-ho enthusiast, or anyone in between. Visit our store to check out a wide range of products for all types of issues and ailments.

Full Spectrum CBD Salves May Save Your Skin This Winter With Herbal Studies Backed by Science

Does the winter have your skin begging for relief?   Is the heater making your skin dry and itchy?  It may be time to find a new body product that could combat your chapped skin and help regenerate new, healthy skin!

There are several factors that can affect your skin conditions in the winter:
Cold
When temperatures are cooler, some people can have issues with proper circulation.  In cold temperatures, the body restricts blood flow to the skin’s surface to conserve its heat.  This can cause skin to dry out quicker as less blood flow means less nutrients delivered to the surface of the skin.  Sometimes, cold can result in flaky, dry skin.
Wind
Have you ever heard of wind burn?  While may people think it is sunburn (see below), many people who are active outside in the winter can suffer from wind burn.  Your face can turn red and warm, and eventually ends up chapping.  This can commonly be seen around the lips, and may cause lips to split in extreme conditions.
Heaters
Well if the cold can be bad for your skin, how are heaters also bad?  Heaters have a tendency to suck the moisture out of the air, which affects the skin.  Also, switching between cold and hot air can confuse the skin and cause it to do funny things, like dry out.
Sun Burn
Can you really sun burn in winter?  You bet you can.  Many skiers don’t think to put sunscreen on during those gray winter days on the mountain, but with the bright white reflection of the UV rays bouncing off the snow, you’re getting a double whammy of UV (which causes sunburn and in severe cases, skin cancer) from above and below.  We also recently released our Burn Cream, which might be even better for sunburn that our Full Spectrum CBD Salve.

When you find yourself under siege by the elements this winter, we can recommend some amazing products to help combat the every day attack your skin is facing.  There’s a number of reason why we recommend our full spectrum CBD salve!

Full Spectrum CBD Distillate
Our salves include a wide range full spectrum CBD Distillate, with a number of potencies to choose from, you can find one that works best for you.  The benefit of using CBD distillate in our salves is that some studies have shown that distillate can offer anti-inflammatory properties for issues like arthritis and may help relieve pain.

Calendula
Calendula is a popular herb that has been known to encourage healing of damaged tissues.  When heat, cold, and dryness begin to affect the skin, we would recommend using something like calendula to help begin to repair any less-than-desirable skin issues.  This herb has also been shown to work as a skin anti-inflammatory.

Lavender
One of the most common herbs used to potentially promote relaxation and ease tension is Lavender.  Many claim that lavender can have a cooling affect on the body, which can help with the heat that inflammation can bring.

Olive Oil
While you’re probably used to putting this in a pan instead of on your skin, it might be beneficial to try in!  Olive oil can act as a topical antioxidant, rejuvenating the skin.  It is known to be high in vitamin E, which has commonly been used to help moisturize severe dryness like eczema or psoriasis.

Beeswax
Beeswax is found in a number of body products due to its ability to act as a humectant.  Studies have shown that beeswax can help preserve skin’s moisture and hydrate skin cells.  For those of us who are winter adventurers, beeswax has been known to create a protective barrier on the skin that helps keep out toxins and reduces the effects of environmental issues like wind and cold.

Shea Butter
Most people have used shea butter on their body in some way, shae-pe (ha!), or form.  It’s typically the lead ingredient in lotions and body butters, and it therefore seen as highly moisturizing.  This may be the extra moisture your skin needs after a windy day on the slopes!

Arnica Oil
Arnica oil comes from the homeopathic herb that has been known to help reduce inflammation and pain.  This addition in our full spectrum CBD salves can help to relieve pain from chapping and dryness, and might help encourage healing in the affected areas.

We firmly believe in our salves because we put a number of ingredients that we believe have highly beneficial effects on the body.  Also, we like how soft they make our skin!  Want to try some for yourself?  See our Fully Activated Full Spectrum CBD Salves for sale here!

How Does CBD Work with the Endocannabinoid System?

What is a Cannabinoid?
A cannabinoid is a chemical compound found in plants and the human body.  Plant cannabinoids are known as phytocannabinoids, and cannabinoids made by mammals are known as endocannabinoids.  You may have heard of a few popular phytocannabinoids, such as THC and CBD which are found in the cannabis plant, along with over 100 more like CBG & CBN.
Cannabinoid receptors (microscopic connectors where cannabinoids interact with the body) are found most concentrated in the central and peripheral nervous systems.  While the human brain has the most known cannabinoid receptors, the heart, adrenal glands, male & female reproductive organs, lungs, bone marrow, and tonsils also have receptors.  Humans are not the only ones with endocannabinoid systems since your dog & lizard have them, too!  Read more about Pets and CBD

How Does the Endocannabinoid System Work?
Cannabinoids & cannabinoid receptors make up the endocannabinoid system.  Cannabinoids bind with the cannabinoid receptors in the body to effect its communication system, also known as your neurotransmitters.  For example, neurotransmitters receive information from your nerve endings that you’re touching something hot and send the signal your brain.  In return, your brain responds by signaling your hand to move off of the stove.  Neurotransmitters can also tell the brain when you get the flu so it can send healthy cells to fight the infection, or when you break your arm.  Cannabinoids, like CBD (cannabidiol), have been shown to potentially down-regulate the inflammatory response in the body and reduce chronic pain.  Ultimately, CBD interferes to reduce pain-causing inflammation.  Read more on CBD and Pain
Studies on CBD have shown that it does not appear to have psychotropic effects, meaning you won’t feel high like with THC, but it may have anti-anxiety  effects.  Commonly, CBD comes in two varieties – Full Spectrum Distillate, meaning it offers an array of CBD with other cannabinoids & terpenes, or Isolate, which comes in powder form and it 90%+ pure CBD without other cannabinoids.  Read more on Full Spectrum vs Isolate
CBD can be taken a number of ways: inhalation through smoking or vaporizing, buccal or sublingually under the tongue, swallowed internally, or used topically on the skin.   There are a wide number of products out there like topical skin salves, under the tongue tinctures, CBD-only isolate, Full spectrum distillate, capsules, oils, vape juice, and many others.  See what we have to offer!

Natural, High Quality CBD For My Pets and Me

Why wouldn’t you want to treat your pets as well as you treat yourself? At Fully Activated, we create yummy pet treats and tinctures for our furry friends and use the same standards as we do for our human products. This means that Buca Biscuits, our CBD dog treats, are organic & GMO-free, and each biscuit contains exactly the amount of CBD as stated.
Precision and quality control is very important to us. We only use the best ingredients from organic sources, and we create everything in small batches – each time. Other products may not be clear on where they are coming from or how they’re being made, the health of our pets and our customers is of utmost importance to us. Many real life experiences and several studies have proven that animals (most notably, dogs) can potentially experience similar benefits from CBD that humans feel.
Research on pets and the use of CBD is still new, but the evidence is extremely positive so far. As Gary Richter, DVM, says, “animals can benefit…for many of the same reasons it helps people – for pain, seizure control, gastrointestinal disorders, anxiety-related issues.”
We use CBD as a preventative daily treatment and on specific ailments for our petts and have for more than a decade. Since our pets have endocannabinoid systems, just like we do, it only makes sense.
For more details, we invite you to check out this interview with Dr. Richter: https://www.projectcbd.org/claws-and-effect-use-of-medical-marijuana-for-pets

Pain is Scary!

Many studies have come out recently regarding the increase in the use of cannabis and CBD products in the older population.  With this surge, more products are being manufactured to cater to the needs of those with chronic pain and what some consider “the effects of aging”.  We don’t believe that aging has to be painful, in fact, many have reported that our products have helped alleviate pain that traditional medications could not ease.

CBD (cannabidiol) has opened up new doors of possibility for those who seek the positive benefits of the cannabis plant but do not want to feel “high”.  In fact, you don’t even have to smoke if you don’t want to smoke.  CBD is an extract that can be absorbed into the body in a number of ways, aside from smoking.  We do offer a vape juice and CBD isolate for those who enjoy smoking, but we also provide tinctures, capsules, body balms, and roller ball applicators.

Here are 4 ways that CBD could help you:

Pain Relief
There have been several recent studies that show reduction of pain in our older populations with arthritis and nerve pain.  In a study by the European Journal of Pain, topical application of CBD to rats with arthritis showed a decrease in inflammation and pain without notable side effects.  Medical research shows that a large amount of pain is due to inflammation, and CBD has been tested and can offer an anti-inflammatory effect on the body.

Glaucoma Support
Glaucoma is a neurodegenerative disease that causes pressure in the eyes and can damage the optic nerve.  If left untreated, serious glaucoma can eventually result in vision loss.  In fact, glaucoma is known as one of the major causes of irreversible blindness, affecting nearly 3 million Americans.  Early studies have shown that the human eye tissues have a large number of cannabinoid receptors that can be responsible for regulating ocular pressure.  Ingesting CBD could help support symptoms and severity of glaucoma.

Insomnia
As we age, deep sleep is harder to achieve.  When we are in deep sleep, our body recharges and eliminates potentially harmful toxins.  Sleep can have a big effect of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s & glaucoma.  It’s not uncommon for medical professionals to prescribe sleeping pills to help curb this problem, but these medications come with their own side effects.  CBD has shown to have a calming effect on the body and can offer some users an easier access to relaxation and a deeper sleep.

Appetite Stimulation
Food is the largest nutrient source we receive, so eating well can help prevent nutrient deficiency as we age.  Natural intake of vital vitamins and minerals like Vitamin C, iron, and calcium can determine how well wee age.  If appetite is suppressed, less nutrients are consumed, which can create larger problems over time.  CBD has recently shown that it could be a beneficial appetite stimulant, and in turn, can help reduce weight loss, mental acuity, and bodily weakness.

Fully Activated cannot prescribe you CBD for your aches and pains, but we’re happy to suggest products that may help to alleviate your discomfort.  With our variety of full spectrum and pure CBD tinctures, isolate, capsules, and body salves, we’re happy to discuss which is most accessible to you!
