Sleep, Anxiety, and CBD Survey - January 2019

Sleep, Anxiety, and CBD Survey - January 2019

    Cannabidiol and Sleep

As the popularity of CBD and CBD products rises, there have been numerous claims surfacing about what it can and cannot help.  While research is still very new in regards to cannabidiol, there have been promising studies that are shining light on potential benefits of the hemp plant.  Science and research are often limited to studies and experiments that you can fully control, test, and replicate results.  The industry is well on its way to exploring hemp’s cannabinoids like CBD, CBN, CBG, etc and there is still so much we don’t know!

This January, a sleep survey was done around CBD and sleep patterns.  A group of 4 doctors examined 72 consenting adults who suffered from either anxiety or insomnia every day for a minimum of a month.  47 of the participants noted anxiety, and 25 reported insomnia.  All participating patients remained under doctor care and on their regular medications.  If a patient had anxiety, they were given their CBD after breakfast.  If a patient complained about insomnia, they received their CBD after dinner.

After the first month of treatment, approximately 70% of all 72 patients experienced improvement in their symptoms of anxiety and insomnia. After two months, 41 patients continued and around 65% saw improvements.  These changes were shown to be sustained responses over time, as well.

These doctors found that hemp-derived CBD was well tolerated and had few side effects.  Some experienced side effects like mild fatigue, which tapered out for most of them after the first two weeks.  While this is only one small study, it begins to open up more questions and potential answers for how we further use and integrate hemp and CBD into our routines.

We’ve heard similar stories from members of our Fully Activated community: “This is an amazing product! I’ve been using it for about a month now.  I’ve experienced improved mood, decreased anxiety, decreased pain, better sleep and improved blood sugar control (I have T1D)- with no negative side effects!  It has really helped my body maintain homeostasis and provides a “subtle fading of whatever ails you” .. this is too good to not share.” - Holly W.

We love hearing our customer’s stories on how CBD helps them in their lives, so please leave us a note so we can share your Fully Activated CBD success story too!

Comparing CBD Oil and CBD Salves by Fully Activated

    CBD Oil versus CBD Salves

There are a wide variety of CBD products available with a number of applications.  Two of the more common products are CBD oils and CBD salves.  Many people will sway to one product or another that works best for them, but that doesn’t necessarily mean one is better than the other.  Some may prefer to add it to food, while others may want to massage it into their skin.  The choice is yours!

There are a few key differences between using a salve and an oil:

    CBD Oil

    • Commonly found in a liquid form
    • Can be ingested orally, sometimes topically
    • Can be made into a wide variety of products
      • Tinctures, Capsules, Vape Juice, Topicals, Food Additives, etc
    • Typically has 1-3 ingredients:
      • CBD distillate
      • Carrier oil, most commonly MCT or coconut oil
    • May provide wider reach within the body
    • Can be made into a tincture with a small amount of alcohol extraction

    CBD Salve

    • Holds a solid form
    • Can be used topically for a more targeted/localized effect
    • Can come with a wide variety of ingredients:
      • Arnica
        • Herb used in natural remedies for bruises, sprains, and muscle soreness
      • Beeswax
        • Helps hold the salve together with its higher melting point, can create a protective barrier on skin to reduce extreme drying and cracking without clogging pores
      • Coconut/MCT Oil
        • Quick drying oil that may benefit the skin and help moderate skin conditions like eczema and dermatitis
      • Olive Oil
        • High in fatty acids, vitamin E, and vitamin A that can be quickly absorbed into the skin
      • Shea Butter
        • Regularly used in moisturizers, salves, and lotions to hydrate the skin
      • Essential oils
        • Common oil fragrances for products include calming lavender & eucalyptus, stimulating peppermint, and astringent tea tree or rosemary oils

    BOTH

    • Are derived from hemp plants using either Full Spectrum CBD Distillate or Pure CBD Isolate
    • Have a secondary base oil
    • Can offer a wide range of amounts of CBD to your body
    • Can be made gluten free

While the basic ingredients are the same, it’s up to you to choose your own route on your CBD journey.  Both forms of application can contain the same amount of CBD, so consider whether you would like to apply something topically or take it orally.  Everyone has their own needs and experiences, and since we’re not doctors, we will leave the deciding up to you!

    Pain is Scary!

    Pain is Scary!
Many studies have come out recently regarding the increase in the use of cannabis and CBD products in the older population.  With this surge, more products are being manufactured to cater to the needs of those with chronic pain and what some consider “the effects of aging”.  We don’t believe that aging has to be painful, in fact, many have reported that our products have helped alleviate pain that traditional medications could not ease.

What's the Difference between Full Spectrum CBD & Pure CBD?

There are hundreds of cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, as well as, endocannabinoids in the body.  Endocannabinoids & the endocannabinoid system are found in humans, animals, & fish.  The human endocannabinoid system consists of a network of receptors throughout the body, like organs, brain, glands, tissues, and immune cells.  The endocannabinoids can help regulate and influence several bodily functions like pain, pleasure, muscle control, mood, appetite, memory, and more.

CBD commonly comes in two forms: Full Spectrum CBD Distillate & Pure CBD Isolate.
